ICU Technician Supervisor

Littleton, CO

Summary: Performs the daily nursing and medical patient treatments, assists veterinarians with emergency cases and maintains ICU facility.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Wages: $25-30 depending on experience and passing of the VTNE. Please note that there is a $2 shift differential for shifts in the 7pm to 5am timeframe

Managerial:

  • Ability to lead and assist managing in a team setting using integrity, accountability, and passion
  • Supervise employees to help ensure efficiency and productivity
  • Train new hires on the job
  • Create and maintain the ICU assistant/technician schedule
  • Assist in organizing workflow and ensuring ICU assistant/technician understand their duties
  • Mentor ICU assistant/technician productivity while providing constructive feedback and coaching
  • Organize and participate in company training
  • Coordinates and administers monthly ICU assistant/technician meetings
  • Attends all department head meetings
  • Bring employee concerns Human Resources and help ensure company morale
  • Manages the recruitment process for ICU assistants/technicians. Prepares and post job openings, tracks status of candidates, schedules meeting, in person interviews and working interviews. Coordinates and assists in the preparation and submittal of offer letters.
  • Manage departments timecards
  • Manage time off requests
  • Performance management including scheduling reviews, getting feedback from other team members as well as other departments, and performance discussions

Technical

  1. Daily treatments and nursing care of all hospitalized patients including isolation.
  2. Prepares drugs, fluids, CRIs and equipment for daily treatment.
  3. Assists veterinarians with emergency and critical care case admission, triage and treatment.
  4. Sets up equipment and room for emergencies and diagnostic procedures.
  5. Supervises and administers medication/sedation as requested by veterinarians.
  6. Trains interns, technician students and new employees in ICU/nursing techniques and protocols.
  7. Assists veterinarians with euthanasia procedures and necropsies.
  8. Works with veterinarians to implement and enforce biosecurity protocols.
  9. Client communication as needed or requested.
  10. Knowledge of stall cleaning protocols (including isolation) according to the biosecurity color assigned to patients and cleaning of those stalls.
  11. Clean-up, restocking and maintenance of ICU areas.
  12. Skilled in intravenous catheter placement and maintenance.
  13. Skilled in venipuncture including giving IV medications without a catheter and blood draws.
  14. Ability to run bloodwork and recognize abnormalities.
  15. Accurately fill out and maintain all treatment charts, lab forms and any other forms utilized in patient medical records.
  16. Computer literate.
