MRI Technician

Job Description:

MRI technician runs the magnetic resonance imaging scanner to create a diagnostic image for the physician while maintaining imaging equipment and ensure the patients are protected and in an optimal position for imaging. Will work closely with the veterinarians by taking medical histories and keeping records.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

MRI:

• Produce and process high quality images.
• Proper placement of patient in MRI machine.
• Ability to recognize unusable images.
• Supervise the safe handling of the patient to keep staff, equipment and patient safe.
• Supervise and administers medication/sedation/anesthesia as needed for patient during MRI process.
• Maintain current veterinary technician certification/license/registration (if applicable).
• Train interns, technician students and new employees in radiology techniques and protocols.
• Take intra-op radiographs as needed.
• File of hard copy radiographs including referral films.
• Periodic clearing and maintenance of cassettes.
• Performs MRI as scheduled. Must report to work by 8AM on MRI scheduled days.
• Troubleshoot Asteris and viewing computers as requested.
• Perform maintenance and upkeep of MRI equipment. Including contacting outside maintenance service (Hallmarq).
• Proper record keeping and billing
