Veterinary Nurse

We are looking for a technically skilled Veterinary Nurse with broad experience that is interested in joining our team and enjoying all the beautiful Western Slope of Colorado has to offer.  Alpine Animal Hospital in Carbondale, CO is an AAHA accredited practice with Fear Free certified staff, providing a full range of in-patient care, wellness, dentistry (routine and specialty), surgery and emergency services.  We are focused on nurturing long-term relationships that will serve our clients and patients. We strive to provide high quality, low stress veterinary care to our patients while maintaining a caring supportive team environment. Requirements include a team centric attitude, ability to communicate and a willingness to grow and develop your skills as a veterinary nurse.  

Duties include (but are not limited to):

• Triage and emergency skills
• Prepare patients for surgery/dentistry; help in administering anesthetics, monitor patients during surgery and recovery; assist in procedure; administer fluids; perform support therapy to patients in procedure and post-op
• Communicate with clients regarding the medical status of their pet
• Client education
• Provide accurate information to clients concerning fees, hospital policies, etc.
• Patient care and treatment including assisting in medical or surgical procedures such as irrigating wounds, medication, cleansing wounds, and bandaging. Perform the full range of “tableside” assistance to the practitioners.
• Perform clinical laboratory procedures for in-house diagnostics as well as prepare samples for shipment to various labs and prepare laboratory requisition forms
• Maintain appropriate medical records for patients
• Demonstrate initiative and teamwork in everyday duties
• Use of a variety of medical equipment: DUS, Heska radiography, dental xray, therapy laser, Heska/Zoetis lab equipment, etc
• Use of various computer programs: Smart Flow, EzyVet, Office 365
