Veterinary Technician III - Neurology Specialized Care

Fort Collins, CO

This position provides instruction of professional and paraprofessional Veterinary Medical students, interns, residents, and staff in dealing in the specialized care and treatment of neurological cases. This position also assists the clinicians and students dealing with triage of emergency cases, neurological exams and procedures, patient treatments, physical therapy, clinical and operating room procedures, operation of advanced neurosurgical instrumentation, dissemination of clinical trials enrollment information, and medical record keeping in the Neurology service. This position performs a variety of patient care duties and assist with obtaining patient history, vital signs, and clinical physical and neurological exams of animals. Monitor inventory/supplies and order when necessary. Liaise with clients about patient follow-up, prescription refills, scheduling questions, and travel arrangements. Perform administrative/record-keeping tasks, including electronic medical records. Assist staff clinicians with planning and logistics, medical treatments, and research. This position is responsible for answering the Neurology service consult line and assisting clients with questions, concerns and appointments. Position must relay information to appropriate faculty/resident/staff in a timely manner and use problem solving skills on emergency and critical cases. This involves scheduling appointments, giving financial estimates and helping owners with planning and arranging the trip.


The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.


This position holds an Essential Services designation – meaning it is required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety, and welfare.


$2500 max (any combination of signing bonus + moving expenses)

$48,276 - $57,936 (salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications)
